Cabinet Door Chalkboard – EASY DIY

Cabinet Door Chalkboard – EASY DIY

Chalkboard DIY - Crazy Easy   Here is the promised cabinet door chalkboard easy DIY from my fall porch. Seriously, this took me less than 5 minutes.   Not everything you see is a difficult to achieve as it seems. Sometimes it's crazy easy. This is one of those.   Here it is on my porch:     I started with a clearanced kitchen cabinet from Menards. I paid $3. I bought three of them all in different colors.   I would have painted it using chalky paint, but it was already painted! I can deal with that...     I pryed out the little plastic hinge thingys and used that spot to hang it from my ladder by Continue reading

Deck Railing into Fall Porch Ladder Upcycle

Deck Railing into Fall Porch Ladder Upcycle

I've got a quick how-to for you because many have asked about the ladder I have on my porch. It's rather simple, mind you. Like 15 minute simple.   Deck Railing into Fall Porch Ladder Upcycle   While at my DD and SIL's home renovation they ripped off their deck-ish type of backyard railing. Here it is in the raw, Isaac and Dad taking it off their back porch:   Rather than toss it, I grabbed it for a future project.   This is my DH - and if you can read his mind, he's thinking... "Here she goes again, getting me to haul off more crap for some future project."     One can of Continue reading

Fab Fall Projects & Blog Hop 2015

Fab Fall Projects & Blog Hop 2015

Welcome to The Autumn Gatherings Fall Blog Hop Six days full of online fall home decor goodness! (Links to other blogs are at the end)   My fab fall front yard & deck project   We bought our house two years ago and it was in a shambles! The yard looked (and still does in some areas) like it was a back woods farm that hadn't been touched in years.   Here are before pictures of our house just before we bought it. Pretty sad, no?     The front was non-descript with overgrown greenery (weeds) and stones full of dirt and dried up greenery (weeds).   After a year of not addressing the stones in front, tons of weeds took root Continue reading

Thanksgiving Kid’s Table

Thanksgiving Kid’s Table

I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! Did you lavishly decorate or keep it simple?   We focused on the kid's table this year. Since the kids tend to get a bit impatient with us when we are getting the food on the table, I gave them something to do...   The kid's Thanksgiving printables are from here at Busy Bee Kid's Printables. Their appetizers (apples, peanuts, pretzels, carrots, string cheese and gummies) and the placemats kept them happy AND busy. Our three year old grandson, Myles, had a hard time waiting to dig in.   The adults? We ate on paper plates and drank from pop cans. I didn't decorate the table other than a single Continue reading

Fall Tablescape – Seven Days of Tips 7

What about the kids? Until now, I've shown you MY fall tablescapes. Today I'm going to share some links from other sites.   I just saved you a couple of hours searching online for ideas.   You're welcome. I don't want to give away my plan for this year but suffice it to say that our kid's table is going to be as interesting as the adult table - and much more fun! It will be my focus this year and I'll show you after the deed is done.   Let's consider "kid boredom."   While we are finishing up the mashed potatoes and whipping out the gravy lumps, the kids are thinking, "I'm going to starve to death!" I suppose the big kids (our Continue reading

Fall Tablescape – Seven Days of Tips 5

Fall Inspiration The other day I said to my DH, "DH, look at that mountain (we have a little mountain here called Granite Peak), doesn't it look like a patchwork quilt with all that yellow, orange and red?" In his creative artistic visionary way he replied, "Looks like a bunch of colorful trees to me."   Isn't he amusing?   Bring Fall Inside   A fall tablescape isn't just for your dining room - how about your couch table, bedside table, or front door accent table?   So many tables. Fall Tablescape – Seven Days of Tips 4

Has anyone ever told you, "This is a no-brainer?" or... Ramble on with the instructions like you've done it all your life?   Have you ever called tech support and had to call time out because they told you to copy that, type this and insert it there and you had no idea what they were saying? I don't speak techno geek, do you?   Here is a quote from an email sent to me by a friend. I'll call her "Sally."   “All your DIY ideas are great.  And I love Pinterest for that as well, but like you said, time is one of the big issues and with me I have to add the word "talent", "eye for it", etc.  I don't have what it takes.  I Continue reading

Fall Tablescape – Seven Days of Tips 3

Fall Tablescape – Seven Days of Tips 3

Bring in a touch of the outdoors for your fall tablescape this year. Pine boughs, pine cones, pumpkins, berries, leaves, even rocks are a good choice.   And of course, it doesn't hurt that it's free. So let's get creative. Think outside the box.     I like free. Free is good. Candles work well with the outdoors because they are made of natural products.   Who doesn't like candles?     Look through your serving pieces and pair them with your candles and lanterns filling in with the natural things you scarfed from your yard.     I found this "pumpkin" at Goodwill Continue reading
