Accent Table Turns a New Paige – Pure and Original Fresco Lime Paint

#Sponsored Post   They all were just passing her by...   We named her "Paige". Here she is in her original home before she became mine. She was one of many at an estate sale:     Paige was pretty scratched up and worn out, but she had good bones. We snatched her up and packed her in with all the other pieces we found that day and took her home. She was an after thought. Why not? She had potential.     After flipping her over, we could tell she had been handcrafted by the pencil marks that were still visible.       Materials List (Affiliate Links)   Soy Gel Metal Putty Knife Wallprim Fresco Lime Paint Rigid Hand Continue reading

Using Java Gel on a Table Top

Using Java Gel on a Table Top

Before I tell you about my first (aff link) Java Gel project, I've got to tell you about Wayfair. I'd never heard of it before I started blogging and now that I've become an affiliate, find it to be a great resource. Just click the banner and check it out.       Now on to Java Gel for the top of an antique parlor table that we got at an estate auction.   I heard all the hype about General Finishes (aff link) Java Gel. People kept saying it's the best thing since sliced bread. I had to try it. And now I'm in love. I fell hard and I fell fast.   I'm not the type of DIY'er that jumps in with both feet and throws caution to the wind. I walk around a project sometimes for weeks before I attempt it. I need to know exactly how and what - I don't want to mess my Continue reading

Side Table Given New Life – Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company

#Sponsored Post   Salvaging the Past We found an antique parlor table at an auction in Stevens Point. It was one of those days that turned out to be very profitable. We got good prices and I fed my furniture flipping addiction. Many things didn't sell that day, and we watched as the auctioneer helpers tossed dozens of unpurchased items in the dumpster. It was sad to watch.   We left with a van full of great furniture for our new FB store The Red Shed. My SIL and DH had the privilege of loading the van while my DD and I stood and watched.       Supplies (most are affiliate links for your convenence)   Krud Kutter Java Gel Old Fashioned Milk Paint Extra Bond Acriglaze     This table Continue reading

Java Gel Table Top – by Maria LaBelle

Java Gel Table Top – by Maria LaBelle

Not everyone can pull off red.     A LMDH friend, Maria LaBelle, sure did. That gorgeous table up top started out as a boring old piece of nondescript. But Maria added her artistic touch and created a much better look with homemade chalk paint. She made her own by mixing Sherwin Williams HGTV sun-ried tomato red and calcium carbonate.   The more furniture flips I see, the more confidence and creativity seems to abound. Inspiration - it's everywhere. We just need to look. Have you considered picking a striking color, one that you only thought to use as an accent, and using it to paint a piece of furniture?      Maria said "This table top just wouldn't stain evenly," so she pulled out the big guns - Java Gel by General Finishes. Here is a video by General Continue reading

10 Step DIY French Provincial Drum Table Revival by Maria LaBelle

10 step DIY by Maria LaBelle. Maria is my Facebook friend on a furniture painting page who does beautiful work. Two things caught my eye when I saw her project - the crisp clean look and the use of Java Gel, a new product I just picked up but haven't used yet.   The 10 step process turning a French provincial drum table into a beauty starts with the "before":   BEFORE     Maria said, "My son saw this table by the curb and quickly loaded it into his car. It is in near perfect all-wood condition except for her top, which had some of the finish removed. "   AFTER       Maria shares her 10 step process:   1. I sanded the top to bare wood, finding 3 species, a Continue reading
