The Cat Lady, The Gardener & The Furniture Artist

A Tribute to Women Who Still Have So Much to Give

It's 5:30 AM

A sparkle ball is rolling across the bed like it’s game time in the World Cup. My seven year old fur ball, Mia, is the star forward. Most would find this irritating—but when you’ve bonded with a creature so small and full of trust, these moments become sacred.

Her tiny paws curl around my fingers, her chin rests on my wrist, and her purrs echo what we both know deep down: I am her safe place. There’s beauty in that kind of connection. A quiet, fulfilling kind of purpose.

Mia, my early morning purr machine and unexpected reminder that being someone's safe place is a gift.

Then comes the garden.

Walking in flip flops through dew-kissed grass toward rows of zucchini, beans, and blossoming tomatoes… this is the kind of morning that stirs hope. There’s satisfaction in tugging up a weed, in seeing the bright yellow flowers that promise summer harvests. It’s not just about growing food—it’s about growing something again.

Each seed was planted with care. Each jar of green beans that will line the pantry shelves is proof: I did this. I made this. I am still needed.

Every blossom is a promise. Every weed pulled, a tiny victory. Gardening reminds me that growth takes time—and that effort always bears fruit.

And then there’s the furniture.

What others see as junk, we see as possibility. A scratched dresser or a worn-out table isn’t trash—it’s a canvas. We find them, rescue them, and wait for that whisper: “I can be beautiful again, I await your creative touch.”

And with our brushes, creativity, and vision, we transform the forgotten into the unforgettable. We are artists—designing not just furniture, but legacies. Our hands bring stories back to life.

BEFORE/AFTER

Navy Blue Set of Three Money Shot

Each piece once sat forgotten in a basement. Now they have come together as a centerpiece. What was once scarred and broken became beautiful again with a little vision and heart.

Why do we do these things?

Why do women, especially those between 45 and 70, find such joy in nurturing pets, tending gardens, and redesigning furniture?

We do it because we’ve spent decades nurturing everyone else—our kids, our spouses, our coworkers—and now, finally, we get to turn that nurturing inward. Into art. Into purpose. Into something that says: "I’m still growing. I’m still creating. I’m still deeply valuable."

These aren’t just hobbies. They’re healing. They’re our second act—one that’s filled with just as much meaning and even more freedom.

If you’ve found yourself wondering what’s next—if you’re looking for something fulfilling that blends creativity, purpose, and even profit—furniture flipping might just be your calling.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about getting started.
