When the Windows of Heaven Opened: A Story of Waiting, Blessing & New Beginnings
How God turned a dry season into a downpour of unexpected goodness
There are moments in life when you pray, hope, work hard, and still feel stuck in the same place. You wonder if things will ever change. You start to feel tired — not just in your body, but in your heart.
And then — sometimes slowly, sometimes all at once — God moves.
That’s what happened to us.
This is the story of how, after years of struggle, discouragement, and uncertainty… the windows of heaven opened and blessings poured out in ways I never expected — right down to a camper, a deck, and a picnic table.
And if you’re walking through a dry season right now — I hope this reminds you: it won’t always be this way.
If you' rather listen, here's my Podcast Episode #9:
The Dry Season Before the Rain
I’ve felt God’s hand on my life since I was eight years old. But these past few years? They’ve been hard.
Business slowed. Social media reach vanished after I was shadow-banned. The world felt heavy. Motivation was low. And no matter how hard I tried to bring my faith and business together, I couldn’t quite figure out how.
At the start of this year, I prayed a different prayer:
“Lord, make me better — fill my mind with you before I fill it with me. Show me how to serve, encourage, and build something that helps others and honors You.”
I didn’t know it then, but He was already working.
A New Path — And a Spark of Hope
Doors began to open.
I found a coaching program that helped bring clarity back to my business. I discovered podcasting — a platform with no algorithms to fight, no censorship, no frustration. Just connection.
I felt hope again.
And then something completely unrelated — or so I thought — happened.
We started dreaming about owning a camper.
The Camper We Didn’t Know We Needed
Our daughters were talking about camping — April was boondocking, Katie refinishing an old Apache type camper, Jillian shocking us all by camping in an actual tent. And suddenly, the idea of “glamping” (with coffee, bathrooms, and air conditioning, of course) sounded… more than just fun. We NEEDED it.
So we looked. And looked. Found one — sold the day before we got there. Found another — too old for the campground’s rules. We were disappointed, but didn’t push it.
Now I know — those “no’s” were protection.
Then, one weekend, we visited the dealership where our son (just recently!) started working.
And there it was.
The right camper. Right size. Right condition. Right timing.
We bought it.
And that’s when the blessings started pouring in.
The Blessing List — When the Windows of Heaven Opened Up...Just for Us
Here are just some of the unexpected blessings that came one after another:
- Our friend Carol found us the perfect campsite and asked the owner to hold it until we could move in.
- She and her husband Steve walked us through everything we didn’t even know to ask about.
- She found us a 10×20 wooden deck being sold by another camper — told us to offer $100… and they accepted!
- We bought a shed from those same people for less than half its value.
- Found a 5-piece outdoor table and 4 chairs for $40.
- April gave us a lighted patio umbrella, and we got a $5 table to put it in.
- Scored four more outdoor chairs and three outdoor rugs — on clearance.
- Found a four-burner griddle for half the price of the one at our home.
- Came across two catios (outdoor cat enclosures) — one for the trailer deck, one for home. I sold our old one for $10 more than I paid.
- Furnished the inside of the camper mostly from our own home — extras from when the kids lived here, and even a few special pieces inherited from my mom.
- Anything else we needed? Dollar Tree and Temu.
- Found a square picnic table with four benches for $40, and I spray-painted the legs to match our colors, of course!
- The campground owner, Cody, brought in dirt, leveled the site, and helped set everything perfectly.
- And DH (dear hubby)? He took that big wooden deck, split it into sections, built steps, and positioned it exactly to meet both RV doors — like it was custom built.
And suddenly, it hit me:
This wasn’t just a camper.
It was restoration.
It was rest.
It was hope.
So What Does This Have to Do With Business? Everything.
Because at the same time…
- God provided clarity for my business I had great reception so I could work on business stuff while camping.
- He helped me find a platform (podcasting) where my voice could reach women wanting to learn flipping who needed encouragement — without fighting an algorithm.
- He gave me peace that I was exactly where I needed to be.
- And He helped me reshape my business the way I'd wanted — I believe this business isn’t just about furniture. It’s about people.
Today, I get to teach how to flip furniture with confidence, creativity, and purpose — and I get to do it from a place of peace, not pressure.
If You’re in the Middle of a Hard Season…
Hold on.
Your story isn’t over.
Blessings might already be lined up — you just haven’t reached them yet.
And if you need encouragement, community, or help flipping with confidence… I’d love to walk with you.
