Kitchen Cabinet Door Chalkboard {Love My DIY Home}

Cabinet Door Chalkboard – EASY DIY

Peel & Stick! Here is the promised cabinet door chalkboard easy DIY from my fall porch. Seriously, this took me less than 5 minutes. Not everything you see is a difficult to achieve as it seems. Sometimes it’s crazy easy. This is one of those. Here it is on my porch: I started with a clearanced kitchen cabinet from Menards. I paid $3. I bought three of them all in different colors. I would have painted it using chalky paint, but it was already painted! I can deal with that… I pried out the little plastic hinge thingys and used that spot to hang it from my ladder by nails. I had planned to paint the inside part of the door with chalkboard paint like my friends did in their kitchen, but when I went to do it, I remembered I had some peel and stick vinyl chalkboard that I … Read more

Neon Clipboard Transformation {Love My DIY Home}

Neon Clipboard Transformation – Just a Bit of Whimsy for the Craft Room

I have a super easy craft – well, I probably shouldn’t even use the word “craft”. It’s While walking through Walmart, I always walk through the office supplies department. Have you seen the black lucite clipboards for $2.44 that were accented with neon clips? Oh boy. Neon. perfect for my new craft room. Perfect for a little bit of decoration. At first I thought I would use Mod Podge and scrapbook paper, but then while walking through a dollar bill store I saw these stickers that I’ve used several times while scrapping. LOVE.LOVE.LOVE these stickers. Honestly, 15 seconds. FIFTEEN. I peeled off a flower, cut it with my paper cutter and stuck it on. They have little pull out hooky things that I can hang on a nail. When my DH got home at first he thought I’d bought them as is, then when I told him I hadn’t, he thought … Read more

Do You DWO or DIY? {Love My DIY Home}

Do You DWO or DIY?

Do You DWO or DIY? We are now through the Christmas season and it’s time to think about perspective and balance with the new year just around the corner. I heard complaining – a LOT of complaining about the “cost” of Christmas and how it has become a boring/stressful/unremarkable/frustrating time of year. This set me to thinking. Why do some people dread this holiday season? They forget (or don’t care) about the reason for the season. They wait until the last minute to buy gifts and end up spending too much money. They take no delight in the music or decorations, seeing them as commercial and garish – reminders of the stress of the Christmas season. They see their family and friends as sponges, trying to suck the life out of them – they are hard to buy for or appear unthankful and selfish. Their gift giving becomes an expected … Read more

DIY Your Own Canvas Art

DIY Canvas Tutorial

Have you seen the newest DIY project for displaying family photos or signs and graphics like subway art and quotes? I’m in the process of setting up a store that will feature such things, but I ought not get ahead of myself…. When my daughter showed me how to create these canvases I was amazed at how easy it was. I probably shouldn’t share this. The mystery of such a nice piece of art is what sells it. I suppose there will be some of you out there that just don’t want to do it yourself, so I will offer to sell them in the future once I get a good selection. Here are a couple of canvases I have in my home. These are not on the stretched canvas, but on a flat canvas panel. For this project you will need an 8×10 photograph or poster. For this tutorial, … Read more
