DIY Tub Tile Installation – Guest Post by Ben Lamm

How To Install Tile Around A Shower or Tub Does your shower or tub surround look tired or out-of-date? A new marble tile surround adds an instant update and increases the value of your home. Fortunately, this is a project that you can do yourself if you know the method and have the right tools. I decided to ‘try this at home’ and the results were impressive – if I may say so myself! Consider incorporating elegant marble wall tiles for a luxurious touch that enhances both style and functionality. Here’s a step-by-step guide of how I tackled the project: Step 1: We Planned the Project Before we began, we needed to decide what tiles we wanted and how many we needed. Traditional 4-inch square tiles and larger subway tiles in neutral shades of white or gray never go out of style, so that was one option. We also looked … Read more

Keeping Up With the Joneses – Lose Those Ugly Floors!

We’re on a roll! The wood floors finally dried and got a second coat – oh boy, just wait until you see ’em in the final reveal! Kitchen DIY Flooring The kitchen floor had two layers of linoleum. Here is a peek at the lovely green and yellow kitchen floor before. OK, not so lovely… They took off the top linoleum, but left this second layer (the green yellow) and laid down a luan sub floor over it ($10/sheet). The sub floor insures a level flat surface for the new floor. Those who are looking for aesthetically-pleasing floors may consider applying Bespoke Resin Floor Finishes. Get in touch with a concrete polishing Adelaide company to explore the concrete flooring options that will match your home’s interior design. Once that was in place, Adam marked the middle of the floor and made sure it was plumb for the first square. They … Read more

My Master Bath Before and After DIY Project

My daughter sent me some pictures of a candle stand she bought at Goodwill and had spray painted with Rust-Oleum Multi-Color Textured Spray, Autumn Brown. When she arrived for Christmas she asked me if I’d done a post on her project. I hadn’t, because she never sent me a picture of the candle stand in her living room, finished. The subject was dropped until she brought it in to me and said, “Merry Christmas.” It was so unique – I L.O.V.E. unique! It was the perfect piece to finish my master bath re-do. Here is the before picture of our master bath. Wait, it gets worse… The former owners of our house took the adventurous avenue and used the master bath as an experimental canvas. Not my style… We called it the Under-the-Sea bathroom. It was a fairly easy DIY project, but the wallpaper WAS a bugger to get off. … Read more

Before and After Half Bath

BEFORE & AFTER HALF BATH   We Moved into our house October of 2012. It was a foreclosure that had sat for a year unoccupied. The story of how we found it was quite miraculous. We had moved from the Kalamazoo area in Michigan to Wausau, Wisconsin about 2 1/2 years ago into a tiny rental house. We didn’t want to rush into a new house, partly because we had some pretty specific needs in our next house, and partly because we wanted to get a good deal. Hiring a professional moving company such as https://threemovers.com/germany-international-moving-companies/ made the transition smoother. We must have looked at 100 houses over the two year span…but that’s another story for another day. But today, I’m sharing our little half-bath redesign. It is simple – just a bit of painting made all the difference. I’ve had a lot of requests to show before and after … Read more
